Re-Elected As Your President
Hello, members. It is with extreme pride and gratitude that I write this article. In October, I was up for re-election for the position as your president. This process is open to anyone serving on the Board of Directors for a minimum of two years. I am happy to report that I was the only person to put in for the position of LVPPA president.

Today we remember Clark County Deputy Sheriff Winnie A. Hansen, who died on this day in 1950.
On December 26, 1950, Deputy Hansen and his partner, Deputy Sheriff William Wolf, were traveling east on Boulder Highway when they noticed a vehicle that appeared to be out of control. The deputies stopped the vehicle in a safety zone in front of the Green Shack Restaurant, located on Boulder Highway, approximately 500 feet from East Charleston Boulevard. Both deputies exited their vehicle along with the driver of the stopped vehicle. Upon inspection, they discovered that the driver’s vehicle was disabled due to a broken brake line.
Deputy Hansen stood at the rear of the disabled vehicle, while the citizen and Deputy Wolf were positioned by the passenger door. At that moment, Deputy Wolf noticed another vehicle entering the safety zone and heading in their direction. Acting quickly, he pulled the citizen and himself out of the path of the oncoming vehicle.
The oncoming car collided with the door of the stopped vehicle, striking Deputy Hansen. He was transported to the County Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries at the age of 56.
